Steps to Follow When Writing an Essay

Writing an essay can be hard or straightforward, depending on how you go about it. If you do not have the time, patience or mental energy to sit down and write one to completion, you can always buy essays cheap. They may be already written, or you can fill out a form to give specific instructions regarding how it should be written. If, however, you decide to write it, here are a few steps you can follow to make sure that you produce excellent quality work:

1. Choose a topic

Most times you will only be given a statement that describes the subject that you will talk about. Other times you will just be given an idea or nothing at all. In this case, it is prudent that you come up with a catchy topic that is not very common. You can choose to write about things that not many people know about.

2. Outline your ideas

Once you have a topic to discuss, write an outline for your thoughts and ideas, arranging them in the order that you will write with. Make sure that they are relevant to your topic to avoid drifting off as you write the essay. You can also include the structure you will use as well as the evidence to back up your argument.

3. Draw a thesis statement

A thesis statement basically tells your reader what your main ideas are. At this point, your outline comes in handy.

The statement should have two parts; the first should be about the topic and the second about the essay’s argument.

4. The body

This is the central part of the essay. It states your argument, which sides you are taking, your evidence and opinion. You will need to demonstrate some in-depth knowledge of your topic which means that research is inevitable. Here, you put down the information you have gathered from your sources, paragraph by paragraph.

5. Writing the introduction

The purpose of the opening is to draw the reader’s attention. It also shows what your essay will focus on. Some of the best statements to use as introduction include shocking pieces of information, questions, statistics, stories, dialogues or even a simple summary of what you will be expounding in the body. Whichever you decide to begin with, ensure that it is relevant to the topic as well as the thesis statement.

6. The conclusion

After arguing out your ideas to your satisfaction, conclude your essay by summing up all your thoughts and ideas. You can also give your opinion. Basically, a conclusion summarizes your main ideas which reinforce the thesis statement.

7. Polishing up the essay

Before submitting your piece, make sure that you go through it at least twice to correct any errors that may have escaped your attention as you typed. These could be grammar, vocabulary and spelling errors or even a problem with the order of your paragraph. The strongest points should come first then the others. Also, go through the instructions issued for the essay to make sure that you conformed with all of them. Once done, you are good to go!
