Vistaprint recently conducted a survey focused on women-owned micro businesses and the challenges and opportunities presented to them.
Polling more than 1,200 respondents in the U.S. and UK, the survey found that women who owned their own business are optimistic about the future, yet still face difficulties with marketing support and new business development. A few notable U.S.-specific stats include:
- 63 percent of U.S. women say starting a business allowed them to take control
- 72 percent of female micro business owners feel women have more opportunities available to them than in previous generations
- 52 percent of U.S. women list managing day-to-day operations as their biggest difficulty
- 47 percent of respondents cited developing new business opportunities as a challenge to their success
