VerticalResponse, an email marketing company, took a survey of almost 500 of their small business customers. They asked them how much time and money they spent on social media. The goal was to discover what social media tasks took the most time, and what platforms small businesses are most active on. They also wanted to know about marketing and social media budgets, and how much money is spent on tools to manage and analyze social media efforts. The survey brought to light some interesting statistics.

  • Small businesses are spending more time on social media, but
many struggle with the added workload.
  • Small businesses focus on Facebook and Twitter, but the
adoption of Pinterest and Google+ remains slow.
  • Most small businesses realize the value of content – but, again, time is an issue.
Find value in paying for social media tools.

So how does your social media activity compare? The following infographic sheds some light on exactly where the time and money for social media is being spent.
