The people who like to do yoga and hang around with crystals in their hands may say that peace of mind and such represent a higher vibrational state, which is when you’re getting closer to the heavens or even ascending from the mortal plane. As far as most people know, you aren’t going to be able to become an immortal deity just by saying Om and reflecting on life. But then, there’s definitely some merit to wanting to stay calm and be generally light on an emotional level.

It’s all too easy when one gets into transactions of any kind to get into an angry, competitive, and even meanspirited way of thinking and acting. When there’s tightness in the pit of your stomach, you’re not going to be at your most creative, and you’re certainly not going to be at your kindest. This is the fight or flight response, such as if you were facing down a ravenous beast, instead of just a tax audit or a sales call. Unless you’re actually going to be doing some running or fighting, this can serve to your detriment in a big way.

In fact, it could be argued that some of the highest value a person can ever receive in this world is a situation that allows them to be very calm and relaxed regularly. This calm feeling is light, simple, and lets you indulge in thinking beyond mere impulses of survival. The survival mindset is a primitive and self-destructive one when it isn’t needed. Life is a limited quantity you can only get so much of.

Time and your life are interrelated in ways that are very difficult to fully comprehend. For most people, the idea of trading time for money is perfectly fine, even if it’s a relatively wellhidden part of the modern world. Trading time for money essentially means you’re punching a clock, and then selling a part of your limited lifespan to someone or something else. In exchange for this, you’re going to get some degree of reward in the short term.
