Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. It is the first right that we are granted as humans. We have all the rights to our minds and opinions. Unfortunately, many people do not exercise this right. They do not stand for free speech on college campuses or anywhere else. I believe in freedom of speech and would like to see more of it on the Internet.
Many people believe that college campuses are the breeding grounds for those who want to spread hate and violence. Some even think that certain students are too naive to know that they have a right to speak their mind and that some things are wrong. This is why it is believed that freedom of speech in social media is a good thing for public schools and students.
Is Freedom Of Speech Limited Online?
Freedom of speech gives each individual the right to speak their mind. If someone feels offended, they have every right to take it to the authorities or to file a complaint with the school or college. Students have shared their experiences on campus in essays on freedom of speech. These writings prove that though the US laws entitle everyone to freedom of speech, in many situations it might be considered either improper or judgemental to speak out your mind especially when you are in a group of teens as you can hurt their mental health.
Social media conversations are different from the off-line settings. They are often regulated by specially designed AI systems that are triggered by any politically incorrect comments on Facebook and other platforms that can get you thrown off an online platform. This is why you have to be careful what you say on MySpace and other social sites. If you are not sure if what you are saying is correct, then you should ask an authority about it. Another option is to get a piece of advice from someone, or even hire a writer especially if you are to write an official post. Many students are afraid to express themselves because of the social stigma attached.
Does Freedom Of Speech Exist On The Internet?
For all we know, it does. However, there are many rules and regulations that prevent students from posting any hateful comments online. Anyone can create a Facebook profile or create a blog, but the law requires that they say something specific and identifiable about themselves. When students research social media and papers on them, they often notice that though regulated social media posts can still secretly criticize certain groups or individuals.
Freedom of speech on the Internet does not extend to activities like name-calling, or even criticism of another person’s race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. This is known as “harassment.” If a student wishes to say anything offensive, they can do so legally without having to worry about being held legally responsible for what they say. For example, if a student posts a comment on a racial or sexual blog, they cannot be accused of legally violating the Freedom of Speech for doing so. In fact, it is possible for somebody to say anything on a blog without committing a crime, which makes the entire concept of “freedom of speech” problematic.
Freedom Of Speech On Social Media
Freedom of speech on social media may exist on certain platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, but this is not a guaranteed right. Furthermore, some schools have already moved their social interaction onto these social networks, which would make those colleges free to host assemblies on their campuses, but not able to talk about certain topics freely. Universities have a high cost, with funds going out each year for many different types of programs and initiatives. A university may not need to spend money on social programs, but they could lose revenue if students were unable to participate in them due to school regulations.
Freedom of speech is important on social networks, as long as citizens can exercise their right to speak and write without censorship. Some social networks allow users to post things anonymously, but the fundamental right to free speech remains intact. Therefore, universities cannot start moving their student’s off campus to ensure that their free speech is protected. If a person is offended by something that they have read or seen on a social network website, they should be able to report that post to the company that the post was made under. That company will make sure that the post is taken down, or made more appropriate for posting to another platform on the internet.
