7 Sleeping Hacks To Wake Up Feeling Fresh And Energetic

In the 21st Century, we all live incredibly busy lives with many of us on the go 24 hours a day. We have our careers to think about while juggling the needs of our children, a relationship, and our hobbies and interests. At the same time, we are going through this daily routine with less and less sleep.

It is no wonder that many of us are irritable in the mornings after barely six hours of sleep. The day just gets worse as we yearn to get back to the comfort of our beds. There are ways, however, to mitigate this lack of sleep and to wake up feeling fresh and full of energy. If this sounds like something that you need in your life, then read on, as we are going to take a look at how to do so.

    Sleep in the right atmosphere

Our bodies are highly tuned to the rhythm of the sun and the moon and for this reason, it is imperative that you mimic natural darkness in your bedroom and that you have no light distractions. Your sleep should be done in the pitch dark if you want to ensure you get the deepest sleep possible.

Furthermore, it is important that you sleep at ambient temperature. If it is either too hot or too cold you will struggle to nod off. There should be as little noise distraction as possible, so wear earplugs if you are faced with a noisy household. If you follow these rules you will increase your chances of waking up feeling fresh as a daisy.

    Sleep comfortably

On average, we sleep for nearly a third of our lives, so why on earth would you sleep on an uncomfortable bed?! You wouldn’t put up with an uncomfortable sofa or lounge chair. Changing your mattress will quite literally help you feel the positive effects overnight. But, how can you know which mattress to choose?

Experts at sleepauthorities.com/puffy-mattress-review/ say that a high-quality mattress is firm but that it also gives a feeling that you are floating on a cloud. On a mattress like this one, your whole body is given the chance to get the relaxation that it deserves after a long day on the go.

    Try yoga before bed

When trying to get to sleep the last thing that you want is a million different thoughts racing through your head, as your brain will never let you drop off. On the other hand, if you are feeling relaxed in a place of zen, then you will immediately head to la-la land. What better way to achieve this than a little bedtime yoga?!

There is even a special form called Nidra yoga that is specifically designed to help you sleep. If you struggle to wake up feeling fresh and full of beans, try a spot of yoga the night before and see what difference it makes to the quality of your sleep.

    Ban electronics

People these days, especially the young, are on their mobiles 24 hours a day. We all know that this has a negative effect on their lives. However, did you know that using electronic devices before bed can really have a detrimental effect on your sleeping patterns?

This is because these devices emit a powerful blue light that actively wakes up the brain when in reality you should be trying to close it down if you want to get a good night’s sleep. So, quit late at night reading on your phone or laptop. Change to a good old fashioned paper book, and you will find that your brain gets the rest it needs for the rigours of the day ahead.

    Avoid stimulants

Many people swear by a bedtime tipple to help them reach the land of nod, or even a coffee after dinner when both of these things are the last thing you should be doing if you want to sleep well. They are stimulants and will wake you up! If you really must have a coffee make sure it is decaffeinated. Have that last alcoholic drink at least an hour before you go to bed, and make sure that you drink plenty of water so that you are hydrated throughout the night.

As we have learned, there are many hacks that will help you wake up feeling energetic and rested. Ensure you sleep in the right ambiance with a comfy bed and stop using electronic devices late at night. Use relaxation techniques such as yoga and avoid stimulants, and then you will give yourself the best possible chance of waking up as fresh as the day that you were born.
