Whether you are starting a business, have a business, or one day you want to own your own business, you need to make sure your productivity skills are in check! Being productive now will help you so much in the future with your business! Productivity is key to success. You can dream all you want, but unless you are willing to put in the work to make those dreams come true, you are wasting your time.

Let’s dive right into the 5 best productivity tips from the experts that will forever change your life and business.

    Procrastination

Liz Sumner, one of the best productivity coaches out there, says that if you find yourself procrastinating on a project, you need to ask yourself “what is it I need to find out, decide, or do?” She says that usually the biggest roadblock is one of those three things. “What information do you need to locate? What decision is up in the air and what are the choices? What needs to be done so that the rest of the pieces fall into place? Nine times out of ten, these questions will get you moving again.” That’s right there is a solution to procrastination: don’t let it turn into laziness and something you think you can’t accomplish because you can do anything you set your mind to!

    Productivity Log

Keeping track of your productivity for an entire week will help you realize what takes up too much of your time and what you can outsource. Lauren Edvalson, CEO of Edvalson Marketing, says “Every week you should create a daily productivity log and at the end of the week, take a highlighter and mark anything you can delegate for $50 per hour or less. Doing this will structure your business or department so that you are able to outsource tasks that take up too much of your time. I do this quarterly so I can measure my progress and also have some accountability for letting go some of the time-sucking tasks that don’t serve my business goals.”

“The key is to figure out what parts of your job are mission critical for you to do and focus only on that. The rest should be delegated” says Alex Pina, President of ComfortUp.

    Be a Surgeon

Don Maruska, Master Certified Coach and author of How Great Decisions Get Made, doesn’t really mean to give up your business or dreams and go become a surgeon. He means that being like a surgeon and slicing through your overwhelming workloads will result in getting everything done, because the more overwhelming your workloads are, the less appealing it is in your eyes and the more likely you will be to not do the task. He says “While office workers may not be dealing with life or death matters, they are dealing with the life of their talent and their livelihood and targeting your most important projects like a surgeon would will make you more motivated to get them done”.

    Alignment

You may not need a car alignment but Kris Duggan, CEO of BetterWorks says that being productive at work is alignment. He says that “If you are aligned with your manager and know what he or she expects of you, and if your work is aligned with meeting your team’s goals, it becomes easier to prioritize what needs to get done.”

    Turn off Notifications

This is a big one, considering we're living in very technologically advanced times and are constantly being inundated with notifications from social media, for example. Maura Thomas, speaker, trainer, and founder of RegainYourTime, says that “shutting off your automatic download of messages and starting to fetch your emails and messages when you’re ready to deal with this will not only save your phone’s life but yours too.” Eliminate your distractions and you will find yourself being more productive.

Be productive, You can do it!

Follow these tips and you will find yourself having more productive work days, which in turn will help your business to be more successful.
