10 Nifty Internet Marketing Tools You Might Not Have Heard Of

It’s a lot, isn’t it? If you’re looking for a few tools to help you out, and make your life easier, here are some that you’re not using yet.

1. AdBlock Plus

Everyone hates pop-ups, except marketers. AdBlock Plus strips out the flash on ads, pop-ups, and any embedded animations on any site that you happen to be browsing. This includes Facebook and YouTube, among other popular sites. It also blocks malware that might be injected through these types of ads, which protects your computer.

2. Awesome Screenshot

This Chrome extension helps you take screenshots on the fly. It’s easy to use and you can capture the visible part of a page, a specific part you need, or the entire page – even if it’s off-screen. If you don’t have a Mac computer, you probably realize just how valuable this is. If you have a Mac, this feature is native so you probably don’t need it.

3. Blog Social Analyzer

This app lets you check up on your own blog or the blog of another company to find out key facts about their Alexa ranking, Domain Authority, and MozRank. You can see how much social media sharing is going on with the post or page, and use the results to evaluate yourself. You can also see if shares are common on a blog you’re thinking about submitting a guest post to. Very useful.

And, since it’s an online tool, you don’t need to install anything.

4. Disconnect

When you want to keep sites from tracking you online, this is the app you need. It blocks third-party cookies and hands control over site scripts back to you. This protects your privacy. The extension is for Chrome and Firefox.

5. dotEPUB

When you need to save an online article, and turn them into epub files, this is the app you need. The extension is a Chrome-only application and can turn any file into an epub document you can read in any eReader or mobile device.

6. Evernote WebClipper

If you have Evernote, then you know just how powerful this tool already is. The WebClipper lets you snatch almost anything online and tuck it away in an Evernote notebook. Then, it syncs everything across all devices with your account. You can then pull up important web snippets from your phone, tablet, or laptop.

7. Ghostery

If you want to escape all the third-party tracking, but you’re not satisfied with Disconnect, use this app. It’s a plugin for IE, Safari, and Opera. Once installed, it shows you tags, web bugs, pixels, and beacons that are on commonly-visited websites. So, when you load a page, you’ll know exactly who is tracking you and what they’re doing. Ghostery tracks over 1,400 trackers and gives you a neat little roll-call of all the annoying ad networks, behavioral data providers, web publishers, and everything else. You can stop them all from tracking you, or be selective about whom you allow into your life.

8. WhoIsHostingThis

Has a particular site knowingly or unknowingly infected you with malware? Want to let a site owner that his or her site might be infected by malicious code? Are popups freezing and crashing your system? What about copyright infringements? One of the most frustrating things website owners encounter is intellectual property theft.

Use a hosting research tool, like the one available through WhoIsHostingThis, and you can find out where the offending site is hosted so you can report them to their host or file a DMCA takedown notice.

9. Mobilastic

If you’re a web developer, or just an enthusiastic DIY person, then here is an app that helps you build responsive websites that look great on any screen size. You don’t have to learn any special syntax. As long as you’re comfortable with CSS and HTML, Javascript, and Django Template Syntax, you’re good to go.

You can even run server-side code in PHP or Python, if you’re up to the coding.

This software is intuitive and easy to use. You’ll do a better job building wireframes and sharing them in real-time with your team. Work on projects whenever it’s convenient for you and in whatever operating system or browser you feel comfortable with.
